  • lots of different otocinclus

I have just a few Otocinclus vittatus & Otocinclus affinis.  I bought them not knowing the difference.  I can't tell you which is which.  I just went and looked at them and they look the same now, but during the day I can see they are different.  They were bought from different stores and I bought them just to have some algae eaters for planted tanks.  I've really grown to like them and would like to get more.

Just looking in google images under otocinclus there is a bunch of different classified species.  I like the lepard shaped pattern on macrospilus and cocama, and there are many other different species as well.  Does anyone know where to find these?  I am not so interested in algae control and will be supplimenting their food if I could find a small group.  I checked one website but they seem to sell them generalize selling oto's.  Also I prefer LFS and have never purchased any fish online.

    Thanks

Niger otocinclus are my favorite. I have one that is almost four years old now!

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

          I like those too!

Always wanted to get the zebra/leopard o-cat but never got around to ordering them. For my next planted tank it will be a must!

Have you spoken with any LFSs about ordering some for you?

Nope, the ones I can think of that have gotten them in the past would probably not be able to keep them alive now.

I'm just gonna order them myself since I have found some places that have them......the prices are not cheap so if it went through said LFS I would probably have to put a down payment on it.

Cool, I will check out Fish Gallery.  Thinking I will get maybe 6 if they aren't too expensive.  Thanks.

Nice call on the zebra ocats.  I love em.  Also got a few Apistograma and a really nice stripped botia.  The botia is super-shy and I never see him.

Looks like that.  I can't find him in my tank anywhere, I've lifted up the cave part and everything.

He has to be SOMEWHERE.  In the filter, on the ground, dead in the tank......unless someone ate him?

Absolutely no logical explanation.  I saw the fish last night and the biggest thing in the tank are angel fish, way too small mouths to consume a fish like this.  Small internal filter, not there, not anywhere.......
