  • light question

I plan to set up my 30 gallon long with a gravel bed of 4 inches.

I'd like to know if my light choice is an overkill to grow Glossostigma elatinoides.
I was leaning for the Two 96watt 6700K   Coralife Hood.
Would this be an excellent light provider or should i just stick with one 96watt for strong lighting plants?

    Re: light question

At only 16" in height, I think one 96 watt should grow glosso just fine.  I, personally, would go with 2x96 and blast it with CO2.

      Re: light question

By gravel you mean plant substrate/soil right? If not then 4" is way too much.

I personally would go with the 2x96w since most foreground looks like a$$ without enough lighting and glosso likes to get leggy more then others. When I had my 36" tank up that's what I was running and like screenname said blast it with co2 and keep up with ferts and the gloss will mat up nicely! For my next 30g long I am gonna use a 2x96+150wMH.

I'm going to agree with screenname and ek. As long as you provide ample CO2 and ferts, your glosso should really thrive.  8)

          Ditto with everyone else.
          I got this with 4 x 55W PC + CO2 and 18" water depth.
It pearls like crazee when the lights are on.

Is this HC or glosso? Sorry, I can't really tell. My eyes are blurry, but I am sure the mat is nice.

                  Re: light question

If it was gravel then you are asking for anerobic gas pockets to form into time bombs but with soil its no biggie.

I had a 4" of aquasoil and it worked great.
