they lay dots all over the tank, but they only hatch if in salt water. -

Right, they need a brackish water in order to breed. You can actually sell these snails cause they are good for algae control but will not eat live plants. A buck a for one or two seems pretty good.
I have some really nice black mystery if anyone wants some,...no charge. Good cleanup snails but if they are hungry and their is live plants around they will treat them like a all you can eat salad buffet.Comment
