  • Riccia in tha HC...?

    I have a little 30-c scape w/
HC, Riccia, and Dwarf hair grass. The thing is it seem that
alot of little riccia sprigs are protruding out from the HC carpet now. I have removed
the riccia stones and whatnot and I've been trying to yank what I
can but it seems to be a lossing battle.
Does/has anyone had this problem before, and how to eradicate it?

Hmm, I've never had that problem before. But, since Riccia doesn't have roots, I would think that pulling it out of the HC would work.

If all else fails, you may have to uproot and replant the HC in order to get it all.  :(

I'm really hoping to not have to replant that carpet. :(
I've been pulling it out for a couple of weeks now and it seems
that when I do so little pieces must break off down in it and regrow after time.

Yeah, I know, I would hate to have to start over, too! But I'm not sure there's anything else to do besides keep trying to pull out the riccia. I'm sure that anything that eats riccia will probably also eat HC.

Reason why I hate Riccia.....if you use the stuff accept that it can and will get everywhere.

If you don't want to touch the HC mat, Let riccia outgrow itself. Without appropriate trimming, they will grow taller and float to the surface.

This is true!!! I forgot about that.
I've been keeping them attached to little ADA Riccia
stones for a while and every so often I have to take them out and cut
away the dead undergrowth and re-tie them. Lets give this a try and see...
