  • O/T camera settings

I am trying to get some pictures of my fish.... I have a real good camera and can set the shutter speed and F/stop.... anybody out there know what is a good setting... I have been experimenting and just can't find that sweet spot.....

the camera is a Lumix panasonic  DMC FZ30.... all kinds of settings.... the fish are too fast and all I get most of the time is a colored blur...LOL...
Had about 900 gallons now I am tired and selling them off...

A lot of it is going to depend on your lighting, but I get a lot of good shots using 1/60 sec - F/5.6

Depending on if you shoot with or without flash..  I believe just like geekgirl most shots can be accomplished with a F/4-5.6 and about 1/60 sec, I attempt to push on the one fish shots to be a little higher on the speed and a little lower on the F stop.  When you down on the F stop you lose depth of field, when you go up on speed you get sharper pictures.  You have to find a range somewhere in there which works for you.  Its not easy.. it takes time..

If you have a second light source like a lamp or something like that you want to put the light off to the side so that it will not reflect in the tank
now you have a bowfront which makes also taking pictures even more interesting.  you want to take them to the side.. not right on
