  • my new angles & hillstream loaches

i have had them for about 10 days now, they are awesome, eat as much as i feed and now they even come up to almost grab things from my hand, i love their colors marbles and koi, really pops against the black background, the pix don't do them justice at all, their finnage is perfect in my mind, one veiltailish, all others regular, they also hunt in a pack, they bother the hell out of my BNpleco and hillstream loaches (my second favorite inhabitant - also including pix), i tried to put my siamese fighter in this tank but the angels were too interested and just would not leave him alone (although he was trying his best to scare them off, but 1 against 4 is tough)

Nice pics.  I'm surprised the loaches do well with the angels - I thought angels were warm water fish whereas the hillstream loaches like it cold with lots of water flow.  I like watching my hillstreams fight over territory - nudging each other back and forth.  Fortunately they don't have any way to really hurt each other - it's just a shoving match.

Who says you can`t have it all??!!

thanks spot, i've had the loaches for almost 2 months now, i was afraid that they would not do well in warm water (my tank is about 80 to 81 degrees), but they have thrived so far (keeping fingers crossed), they have actually both grown and chase each other around and fight over territory, lots of nudging/pushing/shoving, they also get in little squabbles with my BNpleco, when i first got them, they were lighter colored, now they have very bright black/grey/yellow patterns, the smaller one is more intensely black, their behavior is very interesting, they can move really fast around the tank, their eyes are intense too

I have a couple too. They are such graceful swimmers. I will be getting more soon!   FF

Higher temperatures will increase their metabolism so they may grow quickly, but it will diminish their lifespans.

thats a little sad, but they seem to be enjoying their life at the moment and if they can live a good but not so long life, i will be happy, i hope it won't cut down their lifespan too much, its not like they have grown too much, its just i have read that they never grow and it seems like mine have grown a little, lets hope they are happy while they live :)
