  • GH/KH testing equipment

Any good recomendations for a good water hardness testing kit?

I currently have the kit made by API and the readings I got didn't make any sense.

The GH test solution took 22 drops to change color,
and the KH test took only 7 drops to change color all this makes for a confusing read on the little hardness scale
The max drops allowed on the scale are 12 or 14.  LOL I can't find the instructions now.

Anyway any experiences with other tests would be nice to appreciated.

Sounds fine depending on your tank.....

    22dGH
    7dKH

    Or

    393.8ppms dGH
    125.3ppms dKH

Sounds probably like not enough buffer or something like that.

I had the values reversed it should have been 22kh and 7gh.
Thanks for clarifying what I was looking at

Tested it just now its 19KH and  7GH and 8.4 PH

I've been reading cichlid forum and on there it is saying above 7GH for Tangs,
I went and bought some epsom salt to bump up the hardness to above 8GH, I'm wondering if I should do this or leave it alone?

      I'm planning on a Tang commuinty 55gallon.

And if this makes a difference I live in NW houston 290 and west road, if anyone knows about the water from that area.
