  • Wet/Dry Pump Help...

I have a Eheim pump and it has worked fine for quite a while, but lately it has stopped pumping the water back with ALOT of pressure like it did.  Now the return water is like a drizzle in comparison...like a slow creek flow.  I took the cover off and cleaned the sponge, and some of the other moving parts.  Put it back in and it is still slow.  It still pumps, but the water level in the wet/dry system is higher than typical.  Is it just dead, time to buy another or am I missing something?  Thanks alot for any help...

Did you take the cover off and try cleaning the sponge inside or the impeller? kinks in the hose?

I would check the impeller and see if its worn or broken.  Check to make sure that something didnt get into the impeller housing causing the impeller from turning as smoothly its suppose do.  Just my 2 cents worth

If the sump level is low, then the problem is between the tank overflow and the sump.
If the sump level is high, then the problem is between the pump intake and the output to the tank.
The obvious think to chek is the hose (pluged up or kinks).  If there is no obstruction then the only thing left is the pump.
If you can find a drawing of all of the replacement parts, It will show you how to take everything apart.
Dissassimble & clean evenything.  Carefully check the impeller and magnet assemblly.  Hold the magnet and spin the impeller.
The impeller should spin on the shaft less than one full turn before it comes to a stop.  If continues to turn then that is your problem.
you can try to glue the magnet back to the shaft or just purchase a new impeller assembly.

The sump is definitely high.  I will check everything again and let you know.  I REALLY appreciate all the input guys...
