  • Finally - pictures of my tank

Ok so now I feel brave enough to post. I am about to change lighting to T5 (per my other thread), and these pictures are therefore "before" pictures.

The above is a view of the whole tank. Its a 150 (72L x 18W x 30H). You can see the upspouts for the two Emporer 400s and the intake and spraybar for the Fluval cannister. I have some air being pumped in at various points to assist in keeping the surface flowing, and killing dead spots.

This one is a close up of the right side. You can see various inhabitants - ember teatras, neons, glowlights, black neons etc. The far corner is built up around some large rounded rocks.

Here is a view of one of my A. Gabonensis with his fans outstretched. This one is bluish, as are most of them. One however is redish. They get pretty big, like 7".

    What do you think?

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I just love pictures, these especially are very pleasing to look at. I may have to borrow your idea of making a elevated stone wall, I love the look it gives the tank. I especially love the little river rock added on top of the slate.

A nice looking tank too from what I can see. Love the plants and the little creatures that call it home.

      Nice, Very Nice Russ....

      Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the nice comments! Most of my inspiration came from HFB, seeing all the fantastic stuff people had done here.

I can take some....lemme try tonight.

I was trying to get the appearance of statification, like sedimentary rock, edge on, and then a layer of river rock over the top...so I am not a geology whiz quite obviously!

Stanby for more pix a bit later...

Awesome aquascape. I just wonder if you ever vacuum the gravel.

Re: Finally - pictures of my tank

I do vacuum. I have a Python and a looong tube.

I find that water movement, fish rummaging etc have a tendency to flatten out my landscaping. Only where the plants are rooted does it seem to stay put, or where there are rock landscaping. And that works for me because I use the vacuum tube to adjust it all back trying to avoid the plant roots. The mulm I have seems quite fine so during a water change and vac seesion some gets sucked up and some goes into the water column and the filters get it. I think it is fine because I have MTS and Nerite snails and a host of shrimp to get bits of plant and uneaten food.

Actually I would like have moss, and low ground cover over more of the gravel. I am sure that will help hold the landscaping in place, but not sure how I will clean...not an issue right now becasue the only ground cover I have is the miniature anubias....

Russsss !!!!!! It's me Jose!! Wed and Friday night slot car racing a while back ago. How is the business? Last time i went is when y'all set up the drag racing. After that took over for a while no one wanted to race the race course on wed nights, so i quit going. But i recently went up there. I saw you had a new track and finally got the place next door. I went up there to sell all my slot car stuff to a new comer that started going there. I cant believe how much money i spent there. I had over a thousand dollars on cars and parts, and sold it all....for 300... ha :(  How is your son doing? Family?

Well hope you remember me, if you don't, I'm going to go up there !! (and do nothing)
