  • My Cichlid tank...

I just wanted to share my tank with you guys.
I am new to this site and I really like it alot.
I set my tank up one year ago and this pic is from one year ago.
Also I am showing this in case anyone would like info on how to get one of these internal backgrounds they look great but are a little pricey.
It is a 125 gallon I believe and now my cichlids are a good 4 inches or so.
I am also thinking about selling my 8" leperanius and my 2 huge silver scats if anyone is interested.
Oh and the tank is filtered with 2 Eheim 2217's.
Let me know what you think and if you have any ?'s feel free to ask!
Also I am about to get into breeding guppies and maybe start a show strain in the future.
I'm up for any fish conversation!
You gotta love the little guys!

I'm very proud of what I accomplished with this tank.

    Thanks,
    Wes

    Sweet looking tank.

So you bought your internal background or is it a DIY?

I have all the heaters and intake hoses behind the background.
I've cut 3 three inch holes along the bottom for circulation and I ran the other 2 hoses over the top but you could go through the background if you wanted to.

              Nice looking tank!

With the holes in the background, can the fish swim behind it? I was curious about whether or not this sort of background would provide nay major problems with circulation...

                Re: My Cichlid tank...

Awsome looking tank. I was at Lowes and I saw some rock wall looking sheets that are 3'x5' for about $45. I thought they may make good internal backgrounds. I may try and take some pictures to see what everyone thinks.

                      Re: My Cichlid tank...

I covered the holes with some mesh netting and I also covered them with rocks.
Haven't had any problems with it.
As far as circulation goes the water behind the tank hardly moves at all but I haven't had any problems it has been crystal clear for over a year now.
I would be leary about sheets of rock, you need to make sure that they are fish friendly.
All the materials and paint are fish safe on this one.
I haven't vacuumed the gravel yet but I would assume just take out the rocks in the front and you can get to all the gravel. "Bottom feeders and plecos are great!"

Thanks for all the kind words, and I just picked up 4 more tanks to see what I can  do with breeding some guppies.  I'm excited  :P .
