  • TAKO Houston Killifish Meeting

Spot and I made it out to this meeting.  I found the group ther to be very hospitable, I enjoyed myself very much.  Doug has a killer fish room for all his Killies.  We had some refreshments and even got to enjoy a mini-auction.  I came home with a nice pair.  I will post a seperate thread with some pics and info on them.  I love the male...he is extremely nice IMO.

I think I will be back for the next meeting if work that the baby allow me to attend.

Glad you enjoyed it!   I'm Glad to have gotten my Pondmaster Ap-40 air pump for $50.00 (left over from the last summers big killifish auction) and my mangrove killifish, which is self replicating! Enjoyed seeing some new faces at the meeting. Hope to see you and the rest at the next meeting.

I had a great time too.  It was nice meeting everyone there and I was made to feel quite welcome.  Doug's fishroom was a treat to see - an awesome setup with so many beautiful fish, and a wonderful host!

And Nick, the only reason you won the absolutely fascinating hermaphroditic Killi is because I'm still working on my fishroom and lack space for even a goldfish bowl at the moment!  :).  You've GOT to post details when it reproduces!

I got some new cultures at the auction that I'm sure my fry will appreciate.  I got a carp/goldfish - it will be interesting to see it grow up.  It has it's very own 200 gallon pond (since it won't fit in the fishroom).

I am looking forward to the next meeting!

I know these pics aren't very good, but here they go.

I always seem to have trouble taking closeup shots of smaller fish.

Mike has some nice looking yellow KF at his place now, tell me folks, could I keep these in a Tang community tank?

Might be able to since they stay mostly at the water surface....you could go as far as getting some of the tanganyikan killies.

Remind me to bring my camera Saturday and I'll help ya try and get some better shots.  I've had good luck getting shots of iddy biddy things.

These eggs are about the size of one of the "o"s in the % mark on the keyboard.  Granted they weren't moving targets, but that part is a matter of patience and/or amount of battery time left in the camera :).

Raul - they look beautiful, even if they are blurry.  :)

I wonder if Killi eggs are the same size....  I'm sure I'll find out soon enough when I get ready to hatch those out.

I just wish the batteries hadn't been nearly dead, it made me feel rushed and I couldn't tinker with the camera settings like I wanted.  They came out OK I guess though. The only pic of the female is the second pic.
