  • HELP!!!!!

I've spent the last 10 days nearly bedridden with this flu/cold that's been going around and have barely gotten my fish fed much less anything else.

I noticed about five days ago some rusty looking 'stuff' growing on the rocks and gravel inside my 30G. Feeling better today than I have, I thought I'd try to find out what's going on. Low and behold...I find a rusty 'nut' in the gravel. Apparently it's been in the gravel since I set up the tank and now the rust is growing everywhere.

    What do I do?????

Gravel vacuum + 50% water change, then repeat tomorrow.

Simple water change should do it.

          Re: HELP!!!!!

I just did a 50% water change and scrubbed the rocks real good. Did a bunch of water testing beforehand and everything seemed to be OK.
          Cleaned the filters, etc., too.

          Tanks everyone.

            Re: HELP!!!!!

You'll need to check your Ammonia and Nitrite over the next few days. You might get a mini-cycle after that big of a water change and cleaning the filters.
