  • Are They Not The Cutiest

Ladies and Gentlemen, guys and gals, and all of you inbetween,  I believe I can honestly say that, I've never seen anything cutier than a baby Tropheus (Fry).
I have been so fortunate to be able to have the company of a decent sized colony in my office now for a few months, and every time I stop and take a look in the tank and see those cute little goobers darting around, a huge smile comes to my face.

I would guess, I have somewhere around 15 of them at this time and as they grow, they just keep getting cutier by the minute. But on the downside of this happy tale is the unescapeable truth, that I will eventually have to part with some of them.

I'll bring a digi cam to work tomorrow and see if I can't get a few decent pics for you all of the wee ones. I've tried this in the past and suffice it to say that at picture taking I lack skills.

I may put some of these darlings up for sale on our fish market soon, so if you're looking to raise some tropheus, these little guys might just available soon. I'll make up my mind shortly about that idea.

    Thanks for looking

    CF,

Do the parents protect the fry from getting eaten or do they have to fend for themselves?

The females will brood in occassion at first but they are pretty much on their own once leaving their mother's mouth.

CF, starting a thread like so should have picture requirements!

Al......they pretty much have to fend for themselves, but they have done well in the holey rock too.

Note ...in the post, I did mention I'd attempt to take some pics for you all.... :)

          CF congrats!,

Try using the macro feature on your camera. This will help you focus on close up shots. Also, does your camera have an image stabilizer?

"I'll be sharing my chimba fry with fishlady when she is ready for them, but after that, I am going to sell mine about 15 at a time. That way, I figure, I won't be selling them very often, because I won't sell them until they are about 2 inches or so.  We'll see, I'm not very anxious to see any of them go.....

But like puppies, they are so cute when they are young, and then they grow to be like just any other chimba .....

CF"......does that jog your brain there mister?????

I have found that taking baby pictures are just as hard if not harder then taking pictures of the adults......turn the ISO up high and use a tripod and the multi picture function if there is one and just go through them afterwards.
