  • 58g setup for Leleupi and Brichardi

Well gang as promised here is a picture of the tank I had setup for the Brichardi and Leleupi's :)

Yeah I know.. the tank was a planted tank before therefore the plants in the background.. and yes I didnt change it back.. I liked it, and it gives the tank a little depth.

I forgot :  Thank you MikeWhoTroung for the help with the landscape :)

Using a combination of Leslie's pool sand and Eco-Complete African cichlid sand.   Somewhere around 50 lbs worth I figure.. giving it a nice 1.5" layer.

            Is the sand mixed 50/50?

I am looking to try out Leslie's pool sand in the Ectodus tank.

You could also mix the pool sand with tahitian moon. I've seen it done before and produces similar results. I've got some if you're interested...

Very nice, ive actually had a setup just like it - brichardi & leleupi.  If you want them to breed though, I would keep a leleupi only tank

its about 50/50 -  I wanted more white sand than black.. I am sure that you will get a good mixture with moon sand too.. but since Leleupi's wants more white than black I went with this setup.   They Color up really well with this setup :)

Yeah I was thinking the same.. but then again I am pretty sure that if they want to breed they will.   I am more looking to have a tank right now that just looks good.. if I later down the road decide that they need to breed I will take a paired up male and female and put them in a tank on their own and they will make the hookup happen I am sure :)

                            Nice looking tank!

With the PFS and the TMS you won't get the buffering properties like you would with the eco.

The 75 will be used for Malawi's.  I have a tank full of them sitting at Mike's waiting to come home as soon as the Christmas Tree comes down and Nick (roomate) builds me the 4ft stand I need for it.   I hope in 2009 or late 2008 I can buy a 180 and put in the place of the 75.. when that happen.. YES Tropheus are coming my way....  This I promise :)
