If the pump goes out it will only return about 1 inch of water from the tank.
Say you have a 75 gallon tank. At the very most you would loss 6 gallons of water. So just make sure your wet/dry will still be able to hold 6 gallons of extra water.
I like to over due things. So if I have a 75 gallon tank I use a wet/dry rated for a 100 or larger.
