    Hey All,

I found more new fry in my chimba tank this morning. I wasn't so sure do to the fact, that just 3 weeks ago, I had a bunch show up one monday morning. Well, this morning when I got to work, I always check the "kids" out to see how they're doing. I was sad to see, that apparently, one of my fry had perished over the weekend and was stuck against the intake tube of my Emp400.

I wasn't sure about the remains, because what was left looked rather small, but, come to find out, there was another new brood of fry that had been spit over the weekend. I guess I lost one, but it looks like there is maybe 4 more.

Think I'll raise that intake tube back up to the midway point, and get it off the bottom. Live and learn.

It might have died on it's own or gotten attacked cause my fry are able to swim against the intake......just a thought.

Congrats on the new fry though!

True, you would think they should be able to easily avoid capture by the tube.

I use sponges to pre-filter.  That tends to prevent "anyone" from getting sucked into the intake. ;-)
When i clean the tank, prior to using the python, I turn the filter off, take the sponge off, and rinse it.  It prevents anything from getting clogged and any fish from being injured.

I get the pond prefilters from walmart.  they come in packs of 2 for about 3-4$.  I cut one in half, put a rubber band around the bottom and slip it over the intake tube.  Perfect for aquaclear hob filters.  Won't fit on the emporers though (big rectangular square on those).  For those I get some coarse foam about 1" thick (more pond filters) and cut a slit in it.  Makes for a thin shield around the filter - enough to give little ones a chance to get away.
