  • My Miracle Brown Bristlenose...

I was tearing down my 20 gallon, and moved all my fish first. I then took my HOB filter to the sink to give it a good cleaning, and after removing the biofilter and impeller, ran pretty hot tapwater inside to clean out the slime. I looked first to see if any snails were still inside. Nothing visible.
I then put my hand down inside to rub off the slime while the hot water was running, and felt something there...and it moved!
I looked inside again, dumped the water out, and there was my BBN that had gone awol about 4 days earlier!
I figured he had died and been consumed by the other fish in the tank. He must have been hanging on to the input tube way up; when I take it out to feed the fish their flake he must have jumped inside without my noticing...I freaked.
I took him over to my 55 like the Flash and put him in...he sorta floated slowly to the bottom and laid there upside down and then...he slowly turned over, flicked his tail, and moved away.
He is busily cleaning the sides of the tank as we speak, absolutely no worse for the wear...I thought I had poisoned and boiled him, and it seems all I did was annoy him.
I have had 2 seemingly happy healthy ABNs just die after 3 days in my 55...I thought BNs were a bit delicate.
This sucker is obviously Rambo BN...I wish I had more like him!

yep, one of the 5 in a bag group.
Every one of the six are doing great (now... ); I get cocky with my lights being on for long periods since I never see any algae.
The big male BN has settled in nicely and knocks all the other Plecos and fish off the Algae wafers I drop in; he acts like he looks, tough guy.

Sorry, ek, but all the other Plecos I have (16) would disagree with you. I would never part with any of my Plecos, they ignore the net when I move other fish 'cause they know they got a home forever.
I am at a loss why 2 of the 5 new ABNs I got just gave up the ghost, they were all seemingly happy, eating and moving around a bit ...and one turned up "gone", then another a day later. All the others are busy being Plecos, and I rarely lose a fish of any kind.
But if I pass on, you can have all of them!

Re: "gone", hey Philbert, if they're only "gone" and no bodies, I wouldn't be too sure those little ABNs are dead, especially after what just happened with your Miracle Guy. Maybe they'll turn up, too? Here's hoping,

I was being too vague...they were dead. CSI:Fishtank time.

(I should be so lucky twice.)
