Is the phython siphon worth getting as opposed to a regular one.  It is only 6 feet from my kitchen sink so I don't have very far to go.

    thanks.

    Re: Siphon

I'm not sure what you mean by regular one.  Are you talking about syphoning into a bucket and dumping the water into the sink?  I love my python, hate toting water.  I would guess it would all depend on how large your tank is and how much water you will be moving in and out of the tank. Then, you also need to consider how far from the sink your next tank will be

I will sometimes use a bucket and hose for maintenance on a 10 or 20 gallon tank.  Anything larger than that, I use my python.

I hook mine up to the garden hose and love it! The siphon while hooked up to the garden hose is really strong and works wonderful!

Walmart sells them really cheap too.

          Re: Siphon

By regular I mean the type of siphon that isn't a phython, just the tubing with one end having a large opening to clean the gravel.  My tank is 40 gallons and the sink is around the corner about 5-6 ft.

You can get away with just getting the siphon attachments that hook up to the faucet......as long as the hose is the same size.

You're right...5 or 6 feet to the sink isn't far, ...as long as it's downhill.

I prefer a submersable pump with a guard on the intake and a long tube on the output.  Lets me pump from the livingroom all the way to the kitchen sink, master bath or outdoors

Mzungu - the message I find is always the same.  403 / permission denied error when there is a problem with posting.  It is most likely caused by some sort of limit on the sql server ... because if you wait a few minutes and then attempt again it will work.
