  • Bristle Nose Fry

I was doing a water change on my 75g with my Tropheus Livua and 5 Bristle Nose.  Well I posted a while back about seeing something small on the glass and being mad that I lost a bunch of bristle Nose fry.

I found 4 of the little bugars and caught them.  I'm sure there are more but I got a heck of a lot Holey Rock in that tank.  I'm pleased about this of course, but I'm wondering where to put the fry?  I have that 20g tank with my female Frontosa that's still holding, think these guys would be alright in there when she finally spits her fry for good?  These BN fry are quarter inch at best.

After seeing "Jewels of the Rift" I would be weary about putting them in with the brooding female....even though they are plecos

Got them in a plastic floating fry container.  Its floating in the 20g with the Front that is holding.

            Raul,

Andy & Irene in Austin pull the baby plecos from their tanks of other fish and raise them in floating baby tanks about 6" round at the tops of their other tanks.  They have up to a dozen or more baby plecos in these nursry tubs with screened sides.  The fry stay in the tub's until they are about 1.5" but you have to watch them becasue they will climb out of the tubs.

I have a trio set up and hope they spawn soon. later, ken

                  Thank everyone.

Ken, thanks for sharing the info.

Tim,  I will prolly put them in one of my ten gallon tanks I have running in the garage.  I was just pressed for time earlier today and wanted to put them somewhere safe till I put them in a tank of their own.

Does think they will suck their way out of a 10g with no lid?  It would have a sponge filter.

                              Better than a common pleco.
