  • Synspilum pair

I bought these last week. Though the colors are nice now, I'm hoping the male will intensify & get a nuchal hump later. Their fry are in another tank.

I can be found at www.southaustinchiro.com.

Wow, so they've already spawned for you? Or did you get the fry as well?

    Nice looking fish!

They are gorgeous, are they related to the Oscar by any chance?

Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. Remove the former and the latter will crumble.

I got the fry as well. Everything was delivered in a 5 gallon bucket. :o
I don't they're closely related to the oscar (other than they're both from Central America). Can't ever recall ever seeing a hybrid of Syn X Oscar.

Not really close but are from the same family cichlidae, that's it. Oscars are from South America and Synspilum are from Mexico. They are great fish, i think better in fact, for all the paratheraps and viejas i've had theyare the smartest fish i have seen.

That's a nice pair, you should see multifry's under the gallery, he has an amazing selection of Central American Cichlids.
