  • hello!

hello everyone, as you can see i'm new here, and new to houston too- i moved here in january to live with my boyfriend (he goes to uh).  we share our place with 1 cat, 2 female fancy guppies (but i suspect one is pregnant so there may be more on the way!), 2 baby yellow labs, 1 betta, 1 blue crayfish and 3 small oscars (but 2 will have to find new homes real soon).

    it's nice to meet everyone.

    Re: hello!

    Howdy,

Welcome to both the City of Houston, and to the Houston Fish Box.

There are alot of friendly and experienced folks here who frequently find the time to share their knowledge and tips with us new comers to the hobby.
Be sure to browse the site real close, they have tons of good topics with lots of good advice and tips. Check out the fish market too for good deals on fish, fish tanks and all the other goodies you may need down the road. Speaking of roads, there is a section called the Member/LFS Map, they have  these little push pins in black on this map that will show you where your Local Fish Store....is.

    Again, Welcome to the box

      Howdy
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Welcome to HFB, I too am new here... but regards to Houston summers, I am originally from Denmark, where a HOT day is 75 in the shade.
Houston for me has become my home after 22 years of living here.  Summers are only hot because of the humidity is at times unbearable, causing the normal about 93+ in the shade to feel like 110.   You learn the love of A/C and the cooler evenings :)

                  Again welcome :)

First lesson that I learned when I moved to Texas:

Don't mow your yard at 2pm in mid-July.

                      Welcome to the box!

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
