  • New in Katy

After a week here I figure it best to introduce myself.
I moved from Denmark in 1985 to the US, and I decided since I moved that I wanted to get back into Aquariums again once I owned my own home.
Last year I bought my first home (after renting for many years) and a friend of mine the other day dropped off an aquarium, with some fish, etc and I am back in the aquarium fun again.

In my past I used to breed fish.  Timeline is 1981-1985, as such some of the breeding may sound like "man, seen that... done that... for a 12-16yr old kid this was a way for me to get some extra money by selling the fish back to the fish store or via the paper (no internet back then)

    Black convicts (who hasnt today)
    Firemouths
    Angels
    Tiger Barb
    Kribensis
Butterfly Cichlid or "ram" (At the time everyone was importing them because no one could breed them.. I had one successful litter, and it also would be the last fish I would breed before my parents and I immigrated to the US.)

This was a spare 60G tank, and since they have a 125G at home as their show tank they didnt care to keep the 60 in the back anymore.  They asked and I said yes.    Fun :)  yes I am having a ton of fun.. I am like a kid in a candy store again.  I already have thoughts of buying a 100-125G tank to replace this one, and put this 60G tank upstairs, so the kiddo's have a tank to have fun with.   Right now money is tight (those of you who have bought a brand new home for their first time understand the amount of money spent on little things throughout the house.

The 125 will come in a year or two from now I am thinking.. the sad part for me is I know the Oscar's will be pissed once they grow to size and only have 60G to live in.   I will attempt to post some pictures soon..  I promise :)

At least they'll be really happy when they get to move! How old are they now?

            Nobody can have just one!
now you need to buy a smaller tank for quaranteen your new
and one for sick or injured  fish.
and one for the pair that's ready to breed.
            and one for the feeders.]
            and one ...........

            Welcome
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
