  • Using Pond substrate for a planted aquarium?

Just wondering if there is any difference between the laterite/plant substrates for aquariums and a pond plant substrate sold at Lowes in the pond section? Its fairly cheaper than the plant media at fish stores. I currently use Flora Base purchased from Village for my 75 g. planted tank, just looking for something inexpensive and a smaller bag for a few small planted aquariums I will do soon. If its ok to use this, do I treat it like the aquarium laterite?

Im using pond substrate in my tanks with no problems. Its the stuff they carry at Petsmart/petco for $12/10lb. Its on sale now for $3/10lb in select Petcos. 40lbs was enough to do 2 x 55gallons. Just wash it like you wash sand, it ran clear in about 30 minutes.
