  • Mini-M..whoa-ness! Soon to be "Dueling Mini-Ms"!

Wanted to share with you guys my newly finished layout that I finally finished late saturday.

    Co2 Advance system
Mini input/put lily pipes powered by Eheim 2211
Mini pollen glass and drop checker
    Powersand special S
    Aquasoil Amazonia
    Black wood
    moss cotton
    wood tight
    Pro Pinsettes L

    Fauna.....
    Tiger shrimp
    Boraras Merah
    Otocinclus Niger

    Flora....
    Microsorum pteropus "narrow"
    Anubias Nana "petite"

    Eleocharis Parvulus
    Vesicularia ferriei
    Micranthemum Ubrosum

Hopefully the tiger shrimp will like and flourish with babies but if they survive I will be happy. I wanted to enter this into the AGA contest but the layout took much longer to accomplish and it took me a long time to gather enough plants that worked.

Well here goes........ let me know what you think and be honest! Constructive criticism welcome!

First impression was some sort of underwater creature or a swamp landscape.  Its pretty wicked, I like it.

It looks great, i like how the plants are growing on the driftwood, and the wood looks like a creature in itself. it is good.

It will be nice to see what it looks like with everything grown in.

              wow- very impressive.

made me depressed with my fake plants.

In all seriousness, great job. (:
My shrimp are jealous. I think one just shot me a dirty look.

                    Thanks for the compliments!

I will update with some full gear shots later today, the fiance is asleep and she's already pissed at me.

Don't worry too much about the dirty looks alerarae! Mine are living in a breeder net right now waiting for the aquasoil to level out in ammonia and they have been eating each other slowing! I bought like 35 Tiger shrimp to start in the tank but the number has dwindled down to about 15 and that's between two breeder nets! The little guys live up to their name for sure!

Re: Took forever but here is my new tank!

So, aquasoil raises the ammonia levels?!?!!? No wonder I went to go get my water tested (setup last week) and he said my ph was about 6.0 and my ammonia was skyyyy high.  He told me to wait another week and do a 10% water change.  I hope i get the ammonia under control so I can start adding some shrimps.  Did you buy your tigers online?  I would LOVEEEE to see some macro shots of yours.  Cant wait until tonight to see some more pics of this tank!!!  I kinda like the "evil monster" look of your driftwood

Re: Took forever but here is my new tank!

that is one of the coolest wood pieces i have ever seen, it looks truly sick. i can imagine it covered in little shrimplets. im trying to think of something besides tigers i would put in there, maybe some dwarf pencils? But it looks great and i concur with Tim that i cant wait to see it all grown out (but with CO2 that p[robably wont take too long.

Re: Took forever but here is my new tank!

Can't seem to find the camera but when I do I will post some pictures of the whole shebang.

The Ammonia is from the aquasoil which I think is to jumpstart your cycle but I have found that daily water changes and heavy planting brings it down really fast! I have had the tank filled with water for about a week and a half and yesterday I got 0 ammonia so in with the algae crew....1amano shrimp and 1 Niger Otocinclus. The Tigers actually came from City Pets and Aquarium World but I think the later is gonna be the only ones with some left cause I bought all that CP had.

I plan on putting my 10 Boraras Merah in there that I bought for the tank some time ago and also have 5 Boraras brigatte that I am contemplating addding as well but those might just stay in my 2.5g RCS tank.

Mzungu, check out ADGshop.com they have all the cool stuff there!

BOO!  I was looking forward to some more photos!  I guess I will take your advice on the heavy planting and the daily water changes.  Are you doing 25% daily water changes?  Yeah, i stopped by CP yesterday and they said they were all out of tigers.
