  • Fish food is waaaaaay to expensive

Anyways, I've been spending too much money on fish food, I hate to feed them less than twice
per day because thats is what they have become accustom to, instead
recently I began trying something new, so far it has worked ok.. but I've only done it a couple times, basically
i have been weening the fish off of fish food, and onto people food. I know some of you might be
leary but seriously, I'm glad I did, heres how..

First I took some left over table scraps, and put them into my blender.
only thing you need to be sure of, is you do not grind it too fine,
or else you will be left with a gooey watery consistancy, when it
looks like oatmeal you have done it good enough, then just
spread tiny bits across the top of the tank and they eat it up like it's going out of style
    !

I could see doing that with vegetables.....maybe.

Ek, I got a bigger kick out of your question more than Ramius's post.  Guess because I could just see your facial expression...LOL

          Found on a Google search:

Can fish be fed human food or "table scraps?

Ideally, no. This could potentially throw off a balanced diet a fish should be fed. It also tends to cloud the water and make for a messier aquarium.

The throwing off the balanced diet is what would worry me more. We have enough challenges to maintain a healthy environment and reduce stress on them.

If you buy cichlid food from J&J aquafarms, it could save you tons of money.  that is, if you have cichlids

If you were at the auction, I brang a healthy amount of free samples from J and J Aquafarms food. I haven't owned a cichlid that has not liked it. You can get off ebay or from his website, cheaper from the website, but if look at the right time you can score a larger amount for less than 2.50 a pound.

What fish are you feeding if its costing you too much?

Anita puts more than just table scraps in her home mix. Sound like a Gourmet Blend.

Zuchini isnt expensive, but ive started growing my own. A pack of seeds from the store is about a dollar. Use Fish water as fertilizer.....2-3 months later youve got free zuchini.
