  • Firemouths eat cardinals ?

I take care of a 55 in a nursing home; Biggest fish are 2 male firemouths, about 4yr old (3 to 4"). I put in a dozen cardinal tetras almost 2 yr ago ; everything was fine until last week when all cardinals disapeared in one day.
Stolen or eaten? I have had algae scraper magnet and few other thigs taken so "stolen" is not unreasonable.

That's strange! I would vote for the firemouths eating the cardinals, too. They wouldn't be as easy to steal as a magnet, in my opinion.

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

seems correct, they are cichlids. and if they get hungry they go or eat the next thing that's smaller than them. excluding try own fry...

My cichlids go crazy over live foods and sometimes including their own.

It seemed strange that they waited almost 2 yr. Mollies, platies , zebras, blackskirt tetras are still fine. Also 6 large angels.

Yeah, it is weird. But, like everyone said, cichlids will be cichlids, I guess!

At least they were the smallest fish in the tank, that at least makes sense.  :)

How large are the large angels? If they're breeder sized, they'd be my prime suspects! And wow is that tank overstocked!
