  • Green Severum, Jack Dempsey, Texas together???

    Hey guys,
I am trying to conglomerate my tanks into a more manageable setup.  What will happen if I combine these guys into one tank (55-gal bowfront):
    1 Texas cichlid (6")
    2 Green severum (5" each)
    3 clown loach (2" each)
    1 Jack Dempsey (1.5")
    Thanks,

I've done this before without problems.  The only variable is your Texas.  Has he been with tank buddies or by himself?  If by himself, he might be too agressive for the others......territorial.

It should be ok, but the fish you have will get big, the severums and the texas will get about 12", the dempsey around 10 inches, clown loaches can reach up there 6-8 inches in captivity. I usally put in the more peacful of the cichlids in first to establish "their" tank - Severums.

My severum rules a 70 gallon with much more aggressive fish - Zonatus, lyonsi, black belt and a Regani with two Cutteri cichlids. And he is good about breaking up fights and keeping the peace.
