  • figure 8 puffer

This puffer is very common in fish stores. However, my local fish store has them in brackish water.  Ive heard and researched that they can be kept in freshwater.  Would bringing it home to a freshwater tank kill the fish?

    Re: figure 8 puffer

The figure 8 is a light brackish water fish. Putting it in freshwater will make it easy for the fish to catch a disease and hard for the fish to fight off the disease. Putting the fish in freshwater when it came from brackish(1.008/-3/+3 salinity) water can kill the puffer. Nice that you like puffers. They are my favorite. But I am no expert.
