what fish can you put with gar? i have some gar coming and i need to know will they need their on space or can they swim with my cichilds........does anyone know...........

I put a florida gar (about 10") in a 65G with two small female convicts and a 3" male blackbelt.
Well, after he ate all the feeders I put in there he must have snapped at one of the females and all 3 gang-attacked him pretty good.
Now he's in a 29G with a 4" male convict and doing great.
I've never had cichlids beat up on a gar like that before, granted, the last time I had a gar it was much bigger so if I were you I'd try and mix it up a bit but pay attention.
