most 55g tanks are 12" deep..... 4' long
I suspect what you have is a 45g breeder tank. the extra depth is great for a planted tank. Makes it easy to get more lights in service. (I have 3 of them end to end with 2 dual bulb 4' flourestecnt fixtures and I love them.)
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

you could be right. but the guy i bought it from told me it was a 55.
but its as wide as my 75 gallon just a foot shorter. well 45-55 in between there.
the extra 6" depth shure lends it self to beautiful arrangements.
